Rainy Mountain Wedding

The bride, Emily, emailed me the week of the wedding with a helpful reminder to bring rain gear because there was an 80-90% chance of rain all day long on her wedding day. I immediately hit reply and shared 7 reasons why rainy weddings are the best thing ever to calm her nerves, but... she wasn't worried. She laughed at me for such a wordy and positive response to a matter-of-fact email!

Emily had a backup location, umbrellas, and even a backup wedding dress. The rain didn't stress her or rob her of joy. I was with her when she got ready and then I went to go wait with Josh, the groom, for the first look. He asked me how the girls were doing, what the mood was over there. I told him it was "holy." I told him there was a calm anticipation and a peaceful joy. And then we turned to wait for the bride to make her way through the rain for a teary and prayerful first look.
