Spring portrait locations: Orchards
When you live in an area with seasons, you have a lot options through the year for the best outdoor places to have a family fun day or a portrait session. If you live somewhere like Florida, chances are, your terrain in most seasons looks pretty similar so you are not as pressed for time to get that perfect setting that you like.
If you live in Pennsylvania like I do, there are lots of seasonal options and they are time sensitive. I keep a running list per season (per month, actually) of the best outdoor places to hit up during your month of week of choice. One of the best places for spring is Orchards!
Orchards can be a more romantic setting than other locations and different orchards have different colored blossoms. Make sure you actually want the color of blossoms that the orchard has to offer!
Caitlin & Luke met up with me in an orchard several weeks ago on an unexpectedly cold spring morning. We had been prepared for sunny, warm weather and instead had an overcast sky and fluffy clouds.
I'm never disappointed with any kind of weather because it would get a little boring constantly shooting in one type of lighting. I do enjoy a spicy lens flare but I also love overcast and rainy weather for couples' sessions and weddings because it's romantic and gives me English countryside vibes.
The sun did pop out at the end!
We had a fair amount of wind and I am always telling women "don't fix your hair!" because wild hair can be such a romantic asset to a photo.
Luke brought Caitlin's favorite hat for photos! I love when you wear things that you actually care about instead of just items you bought because you thought they would look good in photos, only to bury them in the back of your drawer when you get home from your photo session and eventually donate them.
They are getting married in early autumn and I can't wait to meet their friends and families to learn more about where Caitlin & Luke came from. They are such kind people and spending an entire day with their loved ones is going to be such a fun celebration!
